Beatrice Allshouse

Beatrice "Bea" (Johnson) Allshouse, 93, of Utica, Illinois passed away Monday, September 14th, 2026, at Morris Community Hospital surrounded by those she loved the most.

Visitation services will be held at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home in Ottawa, on Saturday, September 19th, 2026, at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Funeral services to follow, which will be officiated by Pastor Lloyd Johnson. Burial will take place shortly thereafter at Oakwood Memorial Park.

Bea was born on December 14th, 1932, to Anna and Teddy Johnson of Ottawa, Illinois. She grew up as the older sister to her two younger brothers, Lloyd (Mae) Johnson and Wayne (Ruth) Johnson. She married Robert Allshouse of Vinton, Iowa on October 28th, 1960, at Grace Baptist Church in Ottawa, Illinois (formerly known as Paul Street Bible Church). Together, they worked hard to build a beautiful life and celebrated 49 years of marriage until his passing on March 3rd of 2009. They had the first son, Scott Allshouse, of Utica, Illinois on August 8th, 1961, followed by a daughter Sandra who passed away in infancy.

Bea gave 30 years of service to the Illinois Bell telephone company, forming life-long friendships with her colleagues, who continued to meet for monthly luncheons for decades thereafter. Following retirement, she selflessly dedicated herself to the lives of her two twin granddaughters, Amanda (Ben) Broadus of Utica, Illinois and Alisha (Noah) Jackson of Grand Ridge, Illinois, wearing the many hats of activity director, chauffer, chef and referee throughout their school-age years. As much as she loved being a grandmother, she found immeasurable joy in her role as great grandmother to Will Jackson, Grant Jackson and Benjamin Broadus.

Bea was an extremely talented cook, seamstress and gardener. In addition to serving her family, she, above all else, lived her life for the Lord. She never stopped growing in her faith and commitment to the word of God, singing his praise and sharing his scripture in and outside of the Sunday School room. She was a member of the Utica Baptist Church, whom she regarded as her loving family in Christ.

She is survived by her son, Scott Allshouse (Utica, Illinois), granddaughter Amanda (Ben) Broadus (Utica, Illinois), granddaughter Alisha (Noah) Jackson (Grand Ridge, Illinois), great-grandson Grant Jackson (Grand Ridge, Illinois), and great-grandson Benjamin Broadus (Utica, Illinois). She is preceded in death by her daughter Sandra Allshouse, her husband Robert Allshouse, her two brothers Lloyd and Wayne Johnson and her great-grandson Will Jackson.
