OTTAWA - Betty Pufahl, age 88, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011 at the McLean County Nursing Home in Normal. Funeral services honoring her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Reverend David Davies officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. till service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Betty was born June 4, 1923 at Ottawa, Illinois, a daughter of William and Hazel (Dicken) Ohlendorf. She married Julius Paul Pufahl March 27, 1943 at New York City. He preceded in death November 28, 1986. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Bill) Hanold of Normal, IL and Debra Pufahl of Middleton, Wisconsin. She also leaves grandchildren, Cindy (Doug) Nenne and Steve Hanold all of Normal; Erin and Mikhaila Olmstead of Middleton, Wisconsin; and great-grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Hanold of Normal. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, William Ohlendorf and two sisters, Geraldine Eyerly and Marjorie Heiser. Betty was a member and Sunday School teacher of the First United Methodist Church of Ottawa. She also had volunteered as church financial secretary. She was a 1941 graduate of Ottawa Township High School. Betty was a typist for the Army Signal Depot in Chicago during World War II and was a bookkeeper for many years. Betty had been active as a Campfire Girls Coordinator and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and other needlework She also enjoyed traveling in her motor home with her cats She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family and friends held a very special place in her heart. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
