Bonnie Jean Formella, 83, of Ottawa, passed away on May 7, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.
Bonnie was born on June 26, 1941in Oak Lawn, Illinois, to Charles Scovone and Irene Clark. Bonnie worked as a floral designer in her early years and even owned a couple flower shops in Florida. She married Carmen Formella at St. Gerald's Catholic Church in Oak Lawn. After they were married she stayed at home to raise her family. Bonnie kept her love of flowers and would raise miniature African Violets. She belonged to several botanical clubs and even won some awards for her plants. Bonnie also liked to craft and crochet. More than anything, Bonnie loved her family and always cherished the time she spent with them.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Joseph Formella and Gina (Arthur) Bird; grandchildren, Anthony Formella, Amber Taylor, Bobbie Jean Formella, Heather Kanupp and David Brasfield; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen Formella; a son, Carmen Formella; brothers, Joe and Jerry Batsch; and sisters Joanne Smith and Kathy Cooper
