Calvin C. Leason

Calvin C. Leason, age 94 of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Pleasant View Lutheran Home with his devoted family at his side.

Calvin was born July 14, 1931 in LaSalle, Illinois to Charles "Chub" and Myrtle (Gedye) Leason. He married Ruth Ann Simpson on July 11, 1959 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Compton, Illinois. Calvin is survived by his children, Terry (Ron) Wilson of Grand Ridge, Toni Schueler of Ottawa, Peggy (David) Achenbach of Arizona and Chuck (Sue) Leason of Plainfield. He also leaves grandchildren, Erin (Mitch) Nettleingham, Sara (Josh) Lowman, Jared and Rachel Achenbach, Diana (Eddie) Otstott and Bill Schwartz; two great-grandchildren Allie and Eli; and a sister, Ethel (Gene) Pfeifer of Chattanooga, TN. He was preceded in death by Ruth Ann, his wife of 58 years; his parents; and a son-in-law Brent Schueler.

Calvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He is a retired Teamster of Local #722 out of LaSalle and proudly served in the Army and Navy during the Korean War. In Calvin's earlier years, he belonged to the Illinois Valley Idlers car club. He was also a member of Ottawa American Legion Post 33 and the Civil Defense Squad. Calvin was an avid bowler and golfer. He loved his Chicago White Sox and Bears. You could always see him mowing his lawn on his John Deere or heading to the HiWay Restaurant on his scooter. Calvin enjoyed spending time with his loving family.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21st at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Pastor David Ufkes officiating. Interment with Military Honors by the Ottawa American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park.
