Christopher George Falaney, age 55, of Ottawa, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in Normal, Illinois.
Chris was born April 14, 1968 in Chicago Heights, Illinois, a son of George and Kathleen (Maxwell) Falaney. He married the love of his life, Misty Falaney, on September 10, 1999 in Park Forest, Illinois. Chris is survived by his devoted wife, Misty; adoring children, Stephanie (and Dane) Hatch, Aaron (and Serena) Rogers, Kaitlin Falaney, Abigail Falaney, Paige Falaney, Sophia Falaney and Olivia Falaney; and grandchildren, Peyton, Quinn, Lincoln, and Elsie, who is expected in 2024. He also leaves his mother, Kathleen Falaney; brothers, Anthony Falaney, Matthew (and Wendy) Falaney, Sean (and Michelle) Sutton, and Mark Falaney; and sister, April (and Jim) Wagner. He was preceded in death by his father, George Falaney.
Chris was a graduate of Rich East High School in Park Forest where he lettered in gymnastics. He earned a bachelor degree in music from Eastern Illinois University and Roosevelt University Music Conservatory. Chris was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Division 683, and he served as the IL State Legislative Chairman. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. Chris was a lover of music and particularly enjoyed playing his guitar. He loved spending time with his friends in the "Garage Club", but he treasured most of his time spent with his loving wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, and sister.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home. The family invites all to have a beer and celebrate Chris' life with the "Garage Club" at their residence following the visitation.
