Dale LaVonne Stohr

Dale LaVonne Stohr, age 90, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025 with his loving family at his side.

Dale was born September 7, 1935 in Ottawa, Illinois to Elmer Raymond and Dorothy Ellen (Allen) Stohr. He married Dorothy Knox June 28, 1958 in Ottawa, She preceded him in death June 21, 2023. Dale is survived by his children, Michael (Cheryl) Stohr, LaVonne Sipula, Lisa Girard and Jeffrey (Lilly) Stohr; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Robert (Linda) Stohr and sisters Gloria Beard and Sheila (Jim) Nanouski. Dale was preceded in death by a son, Martin Dean Stohr; brothers, Raymond, Donald, Leonard, Kenneth and Wesley Stohr; a sister, Ann Reynolds; son-in-law Barry Girard and a daughter-in-law Georgia Stohr.

Dale was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a retired land surveyor having worked for Sexton Engineering and Vegrzyn Sarver & Associates. Dale enjoyed vacationing in Arizona, bowling, hunting, fishing and playing Euchre. He was a gentle soul who dearly loved his family and will be deeply missed by them.

Visitation for Dale will begin at 9:00 AM with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM Monday, September 29th at Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Ron Rock will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Luis Castro, Tim Darif, Ray Linn, Kurtis "Ryan" Stevenson, Jacob Stohr, Ryan Stohr and Josh Harstead. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Lewis and Patrick Grobe. Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
