OTTAWA – John Baptista Fenoglio, age 92, of Ottawa, formerly of Marseilles, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at his residence.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marseilles. There will be no visitation. Gladfelter Funeral Home in Ottawa is assisting with arrangements.
John was born March 29, 1920 at Cherry, Illinois, a son of John Baptista and Marie Antonette (Perona) Fenoglio. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Ailene Fenoglio of California and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles and Frank Fenoglio and four sisters, Mary Fenoglio, Julia LaCroix, Erma Mueller and Norma Raikes.
Mr. Fenoglio was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the American Legion and VFW all in Marseilles. John proudly served his country in the US Navy as an Electrician Mate 3rd Class. He donated his military uniforms to the Museum at Great Lakes Naval Station. John owned and operated Fenoglio TV and Appliance in Marseilles from 1947 to 1989. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
