John Adrian Johnston, 59, of Ottawa, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Johnston was born August 23, 1948, in Ottawa to Adrian and Rosemary (Farnetti) Johnston. He married Alice A. Thorson on December 17, 1973, in Ottawa. He was employed with U.S. Foodservices as a driver, and later in the warehouse from 1978 until his retirement in 2006. He is survived by is wife, a son, Richard (Penny Clayton) of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Debra Carson of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Kiana and Deja Carson all of Ottawa, and Gwendolyn Clayton of Omaha, Neb.; and a sister, Adrienne (Steve) Gaffney of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry. Pallbearers will be James, Duanne and Eddie Thorson, Richie Scott, Bob Carretto and Larry and Rich Gaul. Memorials may be directed to the family.
