Lois Vanessa Harper, 93, of Sheridan, formerly of Ottawa, died Monday, August 20, 2007 at Manor Care Health Center in Rolling Meadows, IL. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Williams of officiating. Burial will be in Summit View Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Mrs. Harper was born May 19, 1914 in Ottawa to Merton. and Della (Lyle) Cheeseman. She married William Henry Harper, April 6, 1932. He died December 9, 1979. She was retired from Libby Owens Ford Glass Co. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Ottawa. She is survived by four sons; Robert Harper of Thomasboro, Ill., John Harper of Sheridan, Gerald (Helen) Harper of Earlville, Ill., and LaVerne (Sue) Harper of Morris, Ill.; six daughters; Juanita Ritter of Spring Hill, Fla., Dorothy Harper of Palatine, Ill., Eileen (Jack) Stanton of Dewey, Arizona, Marjorie (Gary) Mladjan of Post Falls, Idaho, Patricia (Don) Videen of Minneapolis, Minn. and LaVonne (Jeff) Shapiro of Arlington Heights, Ill.; eight grandsons, nine granddaughters; twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; also surviving is her long-time caregiver, Lorine Grubbs. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Williams. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
