Luana M. Gedye, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 30, 2025 with her children at her side.
Luana was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, a daughter of John Alawa Gilman and Emma (Hilea) Gilman. She married Richard L. Gedye on June 11, 1958 in Honolulu. Richard preceded her in death May 23, 2013. Luana is survived by her children, Debbie (Kirk) Beauvais of Honolulu, Hawaii, Denise (Ken Nona) Hoxie, Diane Gedye (Tim) Carpenter and Dawn Gedye all of Ottawa. She also leaves grandchildren, Jeremy (Kasondra Evans) Meyers, Jason (Wendy) Wolfe, Timmy Halterman and Desirae Gedye; and great-grandchildren Sian Martin, Sierra Meyers, Dominique Meyers, Nevaeh Gedye, Carter Wolfe, Channing Wolfe, Mina Pellegrin, Emelie Sedlmayer and Chase Blue; and bonus great-grandchildren Walker and Bailey Smith. In addition to Richard, she was preceded in death by a son, David Martin, a grandson Jesse Martin, two brothers John and Tony Gilman and three sisters Jane Kekoolani, Annette Faulkner and Leslie Quel.
Luana was a member of the Ottawa American Legion Auxiliary, Moose Lodge and YMCA. She retired from Western Electric in Montgomery, IL and later worked for Dunkin' Donuts for 25 years. Luana was an outgoing lady who enjoyed dancing. The time most precious to her was that spent with her loving family.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, December 8th from 4 to 6 pm at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home. Private interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.
