OTTAWA – Merl Dean Lilly, 81, of Ottawa passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
There will be no services per Mr. Lilly’s wishes. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois at a later date.
Merl was born November 12, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, a son of Merle and Grace (Hughes) Lilly. He married Phyllis Bozynski July 16, 1955 in Chicago. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Phyllis, of Ottawa; his children, Duane Lilly of Joliet, Bruce Lilly of Sandwich, and David Lilly of Joliet; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. One daughter, Laura Lilly, and one sister, Jeanne Graham preceded him in death.
Merl was a retired millwright of Inland Steel. He was also a former member of the Lions Club.
