Mildred Louise (Jett) Meyers was born October 17, 1926, to Gertrude Leona (Lock) Jett and Charles Henry Jett in Naplate, Illinois. She passed away on November 15, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at noon on November 20, 2025 at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Chaplain Jonathan Pope officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Millie was a hard worker all of her life before retiring as a glass worker from Libby Owens Ford in 1986. She began work as a young girl cleaning houses. She also worked at the Engelfield Cafeteria and Blackly Cleaners. At 16, during WWII she went to work in Aircraft at Libby Owens Ford in Naplate where she was a riveter attaching metal strips to windscreens for P47s and parts for B29 Bombers. After the war ended, she worked at Owens Illinois in Streator before being called back to Libby Owens where she worked until her retirement. She married Edward James Meyers at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Streator, Illinois on October 7, 1950.
After she retired she traveled with her husband Ed. In the summers she enjoyed being outside where she tended her flowers and her vegetable garden where she grew tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers that she used to can tomatoes and make salsa. She was a lifelong knitter and crocheter. As a charter member of the Reddick Library’s Loop Group she enjoyed many a Saturday knitting and crocheting and helping to teach beginners. She was kind, generous and loving, always ready and willing to give a helping hand wherever needed.
She is survived by her daughter Crystal Schott, son-in-law Dan Schott and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband Edward; her daughter Gail Linette Meyers; her parents Charles and Gertrude (Lock) Jett; her sisters Mae (Mamie) Schultheis, Hazel Carroll, Rose Pike, Olive Hermann and sisters, Bessie and Leona in infancy: her brothers, Adolf, Woodrow, Charles Jr., George, Foster Jett and brother Edward in infancy.
