Oliver K. “Ollie” Carr, age 83, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at Rivershores Nursing Home in Marseilles.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23rd at Crossbridge Community Church with Pastor Kevin Donoho officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 33, Ottawa Veterans Group Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Gladfelter Funeral Home.
Oliver was born February 23, 1934 in Ottawa, the son of Raymond and Ruth (Ovelman) Carr. He married Linette (Butcher) Carr in 1976 at Lake Geneva, WI. He is survived by his wife, Linette Carr; daughter, Tara (Donald) Lewis of Ottawa; son, Lance and Christine (Galvan) Carr of Okawville, IL; daughter, Lane (Carr) Nellinger of Genoa, IL; daughter Misty (Kyle) Meador of Richardson, TX; brothers, Donald Armstrong, Raymond “Bobby” (Doris) Carr, Jack Carr and Larry Labbs; sisters, Ruth Meta Moore, Patricia Wagner, and Judy Miskell; grandchildren, Donald J. Lewis, Jr., Katie Lewis, Dr. Logan Carr, Malory Carr, David and Jennifer (Carr) Boden, Justin (Eli) Carr, Jessica Carr, JD, Charlie and Jared Nellinger, Emilia and Jaxon Meador, and Dr. Jordana and James Mortimer; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, David Carr and Vernon Bayer; and sisters, Virginia Trudy, Jeanne Cooper and Loli Carr.
Oliver was a member of Crossbridge Community Church and the American Model Airplane Association. He retired from Illinois Nitrogen. Oliver proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He loved working with his hands doing woodworking, building clocks, restoring antique cars as well as restoring and riding motorcycles. Oliver also built and flew remote controlled airplanes. He dearly loved his family, his cats and Elvis Presley music.
