Richard C. Bornemann

August 20, 1931 — March 3, 2023

Richard C. Bornemann, age 91, of Ottawa, was embraced in the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, March 3, 2023 in the presence of his loving and devoted family.

Richard "Rich" was born August 20, 1931 in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Berneice (Houck) Bornemann. He married Leona Coop April 26, 1958 in Plattville, Illinois. Surviving is his wife, Leona; children, Lynda (Don) Sereno, Janet (Keith) Russell, Sharon (Tim) Hackathorn and David (Donna) Bornemann. Rich also leaves grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Sereno, Kyle, Brian and Jenna Russell, Trevor Hackathorn and Janelle (Hackathorn) Gehman, Jonathan and Hannah Bornemann; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alice Killian.

Rich was a faithful member of Crossbridge Community Church for 45 years. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had been employed at Libbey Owens Ford for over 35 years until retirement. Rich was a hard working man who dearly loved his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, fishing, camping and traveling.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 11th at Crossbridge Community Church with Pastor Brian Wangler officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Saturday at the church. Burial with full military honors by the Ottawa American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons. Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
