OTTAWA – Steven Robert Gaffney, age 68, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at his residence.
Private services with Military Honors will be held at a later date. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Steve was born January 25, 1948 in Ottawa, a son of Robert and Margaret (Brashear) Gaffney. He married Adrienne Johnston April 6, 1974 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. Steve is survived by his wife, Adrienne of Ottawa; his mother, Margaret “Marge” Gaffney of Ottawa; daughters, Beth (Mark) Bellamy of Avon, Indiana and Julia Gaffney of Arlington, Virginia. He also leaves a brother, Tom (Jody) Gaffney of rural Norway; and a sister, Kay (Steve) Phelps of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Steve was preceded in death by his father.
Steve proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Tripoli, Libya and Washington, D.C. He was retired from Caterpillar in Aurora. Steve was a life member of the Ottawa American Legion Post 33. He enjoyed travel, riding motorcycles and visiting with friends at Conroy’s.
