Theodore S. "Ted" Lenac

November 9, 1929 — January 21, 2022

Theodore “Ted” S. Lenac, age 92, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home.

Funeral Mass will be held 1:30 P.M. Friday, January 28th at St. Patrick Church in Ottawa with Rev. Bruno Byomuhangi officiating.  Interment with Military Rites by the American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Friday at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Gary, Grant and Greg Fuchs, David Fowler and Joey Gama (nephews), Richard Ewald III (grandson) and Mike Carlson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Geiger and John Lenac.

Ted was born November 9, 1929 in Ottawa, Illinois, a son of Vincent and Alessandra (Cervoc) Lenac.  He married Mary K. Gray June 27, 1959 at St. Francis Church in Ottawa.  She preceded him in death August 13, 1988.  Surviving are his children, Sally (Richard II) Ewald of Largo, FL and Steve Lenac of Ottawa; grandchildren, Maggie (Jake Folger) Lenac, Richard III (Caeli Lucas) Ewald, Alessandra (Joey Shafer) Shafer-Ewald, and Amy (Dr. Alyssa King) Ewald; and great-grandchildren, Cadence, Joseph, Ted and Wesley Shafer-Ewald.  Ted was preceded in death by brothers John, Stan and Dan Lenac and a sisters, Elizabeth Owens, Helen Fuchs and Mary Hauschulz.

Ted was a member of St. Patrick Church, the Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge and Ottawa American Legion Post 33.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army 82nd Infantry in World War II.  Ted was a retired employee of Libbey-Owens Ford.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and “signing” with his friends and had been honored as “Outdoorsman of the Year” by Hank Walsh.  Ted dearly loved and enjoyed his family and friends and was known as an avid storyteller.  He enjoyed cooking and grilling out.  His fish frys and New Year’s parties were legendary!  He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
