William "Bill" Rognas, age 78, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center, Ottawa.
Bill was born July 25, 1945 in Watertown, South Dakota, a son of Richard and Margaret (Carlson) Rognas. He married Rae Hostetter May 7, 1977 in Canton, Illinois. Surviving are his loving wife Rae; his daughters Laurie (Steve) Harden of Ottawa and Lynn Addis of Mesa, AZ. He also leaves grandchildren, Ashley (Randy) VanMill, Lindsey (Grant) Lewis, Nicholas (Nikki) Harden, Ty Addis and Jillian Addis; and great-grandchildren, Lexi VanMill, Brayden Bishop, Jamison Lewis, Theodore Lewis and Benjamin Lewis. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Todd Addis.
Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He attended Crossbridge Community Church. He retired in 2018 as a franchise owner of several KFC and Taco Bell restaurants. Bill was a former member of the Lions Club in Marseilles. He loved animals and enjoyed playing golf whenever he could. Time spent with family was of utmost importance to Bill.
A Celebration of Life honoring Bill will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 29th at Crossbridge Community Church with Pastor Sherry Stevenson officiating. There will be no visitation. Entombment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date. Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home is assisting the family.
