Obituary

Gary J. Halm, 77, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice with his family present praying at his bedside.

Gary was born April 24, 1945 in Ottawa, Illinois, son of Rudolph "Rudy" and Rosina "Rose" (Kastler) Halm. He married Joyce Miller on April 12, 1969 in Marseilles, Illinois. Surviving are his devoted wife of 53 years Joyce of Sheboygan, WI; and his four daughters, Karen (Gene) Lamis, of Fort Worth, TX, Kathi (Troy) Hurt, of Benbrook, TX, Kristy (Paul) Gillham, of Maitland, FL, and Kim (Jason) Kotecki, of Sheboygan, WI. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Andrew, Nick, Grace, Tristan, Abby, Ashleigh, Lucy, Ben and Virginia Rose. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tom Halm of Ottawa and his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Anna Marie Miller of Marseilles.

Gary proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Ottawa where he served as a eucharistic minister for 25 years. Gary was a proud member of the Rosary for Life Group (also known as the Street Disciples). He was a dedicated electrician for the IBEW Local 176 for 32 years. Gary had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with his family and friends. His leisure time would find him enjoying family trips, music, air shows and photography. Gary enjoyed being a great Dad and Papa to his grandchildren.
