Phillip H. Clouse, age 84, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully February 14, 2022 at his home.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 21, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home. At the conclusion of visitation there will be a short prayer service with Reverend David Kipfer and burial at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.
Phillip was born on January 26, 1938 in Elmhurst, Illinois, the son of Phillip and Agnes (MacCallum) Clouse. He married Janet (Finch) Clouse on May 27, 1961, at St. Petronille Church in Glen Ellyn. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2013. He is survived by his two sons, David (Leigh) Clouse of Pittsburgh, PA and James Clouse of Ottawa; and grandchildren, Brendon, Sophia, Rory, Bryanne, Shane and James Clouse. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Straley, and a granddaughter, Caleigh Clouse.
Phillip served his country throughout his professional life, first in the United States Marine Corps and thereafter for 27 years with the Glen Ellyn Police Department until his retirement. Upon retirement, he and Janet chose Ottawa to be their new home. He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church. Early in life he played the clarinet and developed an affinity for classical music. In his leisure time he enjoyed reading, golf, and gardening. He loved time spent with his family and was a proud father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
Memorial contributions can be made to Pet Project, a no-kill shelter that was dear to Phillip’s heart. (https://petprojectinc.org)
