LaVonne Maynard

OTTAWA - LaVonne Maynard, age 82, of Ottawa, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2010 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Funeral services honoring her life will be held at Noon on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Sherry Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow in DeBolt Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jason Robinson, Nathan Robinson, Tom Maynard, Mike Maynard, Bob Scott and Matt Feehan. LaVonne was born April 15, 1927 in Ottawa, Illinois, a daughter of George and Marie (Carrier) Thomas. She married Leeward Maynard June 14, 1947 in Ottawa. She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Leeward; her children, Sandy (Gary) Robinson, Tom (Laurie) Maynard and John (Patti) Maynard all of Ottawa; brothers and sisters, Juanita Scott of Ottawa, Dick (Lois) Thomas of California, Elaine Davidson of Phoenix, Arizona and Sharon Tillery of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She also leaves grandchildren, Jason (Clare) Robinson, Nathan (Stephanie) Robinson, MaCayla Maynard, Tom Maynard, Jr., Megan Maynard, Kimberly Maynard and Mike Maynard. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings. LaVonne was a member of the First Baptist Church. She formerly owned and operated LaVonne's Beauty Shop. She enjoyed growing flowers and working in the garden. The time she treasured most was that spent with her family. Memorial contributions may be directed to Ottawa Regional Hospice.
